Crafts

The pottery of Jiménez de Jamuz is worth a special mention. There are potteries producing traditional pieces as well as others producing more avant-garde creations. Textiles are represented by the blankets and clothing of Val de San Lorenzo.

Basketwork, gold and silver jewellery, glass and leather products also form part of our crafts tradition. With the aim of perpetuating all these arts, there exist Escuelas Talleres (Workshop Schools) depending on the City Council of León and on the Provincial Government.

Fishing feathers are also equally renowned; known by the name of moscas (flies) or mosquitos, these are handmade and use cock feathers (the most prestigious being those from Curueño).
