Benavente

Crafts

Wood is traditionally worked in the area by fine craftsmen. Until the middle of the last century La Milla de Tera, Junquera and Benavente boasted renowned pottery centres. Currently, there is a potters workshop in Arcos de la Polvorosa and a ceramics workshop in Benavente. Ironwork and forging has more representatives in the region, with several workshops in which high quality work continues to be made. Once important wine-skin making and footwear crafts have now almost disappeared, though they still have their representatives in Benavente.
