Of the many traditions maintained in Zamora, pottery-making occupies first place. Villages like Moveros and Pereruela follow the same guidelines as years ago to make a very special pottery. In both areas, it was the women who were in charge of modelling and baking the pieces. The pottery from Moveros, whitish-ochre in colour, is good for keeping water fresh and cool, while the pottery from Pereruela, heat-resistant clay pieces, is used for cooking. A good display of pieces from these areas, as well as noteworthy pieces from Toro, can be seen at the Ceramics Fair held in the city every year during the Festival of San Pedro.
