Popular handicraft is reflected in Baños de Montemayor in the manufacture of chestnut wood basketry, whose process of manufacture starts with the tree ( chestnut ) care, selection, cut and transport of the strips , from which the “lamas” “ (slats) will be obtained and with which baskets will be made, the wood preparation in the processes called caldeo (heating) and  labra (work)  ) , being the last steps the ones called “ fundar el cesto ” (making the bottom), “ hacer los aros ” (raising sides), “ levantar el cesto ” ( shaping ) , “tejer el cesto” ( weaving ). Finally, it is important to point out that the procurement and treatments of raw material as well as the manufacture of the baskets are made in a completely traditional way.
