Ruta de la Plata

Mérida - Cáceres

After leaving Mérida and crossing the old N-630 trunk road, the route passes through Cornalvo Reservoir Nature Park for a few kilometres, where you can find splendid pasture lands dotted with holm oaks and a reservoir that dates from Roman times: the Proserpina Reservoir.
An ascent commences at this point which, although not very pronounced, is fairly lengthy, before reaching Alcuéscar. This is the Sierra Centinela pass.
From here, the road goes up and downhill almost constantly until you get to Cáceres, the former Roman CASTRA CAECILIA. You will be able to enjoy the scenery of the Sierra de San Pedro on your left for the last few kilometres
