Ruta de la Plata

Cáceres - Carcaboso (81 km)

From Cáceres, the route descends briskly to the Alcántara Reservoir, but don’t be fooled!
The uphill climb to Los Castaños pass starts once you reach the reservoir.
From Grimaldo, the route has some highly technical stretches that will become especially complicated for those carrying panniers.
The last stretch of the route takes you along better trails, in the River Alagón valley first and then in the River Jerte Valley.
The walled locality of Galisteo is worth stopping at. A visit to PLASENCIA is also recommended. This city, situated to the east of Galisteo, is noteworthy for its historical character and its well-preserved medieval essence.
NOTE: You may find some difficulties on this stage with closed gates and some stretches that are not signposted.
